My name’s Preston Ulmer

Whether you’re a pastor, volunteer, or just a someone interested in building friendships with people who don’t think like you, I can help. Atheists or Christian, you should try this!

I started the first Doubter’s Club in Denver, CO as a conversation between myself, a Christian, and an atheist. As we became friends, I suggested that we meet on a regular basis to talk about issues that matter. I wondered what would happen if others joined. It quickly became a structured meeting with people from all sorts of backgrounds. As a result I was able to…

  • Grow in my compassion for other people

  • Build friendships with people I previously ignored

  • See a community of spiritual misfits become friends

  • Watch as we changed in light of the truth we discovered

  • Build legitimate bridges where the world wants barriers

transform the way people interact in your community

As the first Doubter’s Club continued to grow, I started training some of the people in our group to start more clubs around the city. Through the process of training those early DC Pioneers, I created a training that has helped people all over the country and the world start Doubter’s Clubs in their community.

If you’re willing to dedicate a few hours for training, you can play a leading role in transforming the way people communicate in your city. The Doubter’s Club training is a powerful tool that will empower you to model friendship and pursue truth with people from all sorts of backgrounds. It’s not a new thing to do. It’s a new way to do everything!

Shawn and David started The Doubter’s Club in Albuquerque, NM in November, 2018. The two of them had a long history of going to church in the city and serving the local church. But as life has a habit of doing, the more they saw the less they wanted to see. Their hunger for authenticity eclipsed what the traditional, Sunday morning driven church could offer. David was called “dangerous” due to the evolution of his theology, and Shawn was deemed an outsider by the insiders. All of this was the perfect recipe for a Doubter’s Club, and they were the perfect two to co-moderate the meetings! Read more…
